I think you are right, many of these injuries are going to be long term, permanent damage. A person's disability may lessen, but not fully resolve for the remainder of their lives. 😬 The people I know who have these injuries stubbornly deny it's from the shot, or that the shot contributed. I guess it's easier that way, easier for them to live with.

The cognitive dissonance between aggressively and forcefully embracing the vaccines to the point of injecting yourself - especially if it became a component of personal identity and moreso if you proselytized others to get vaccinated - and admitting that the vaccines injured you with an injury that definitely refutes the whole notion of safe & worthwhile overall is massive. Plus it's riding on a bunch of other complexes that similarly strongly push a person to denial of vaccine as a possible cause of said condition.

The most likely path to admittance for such individuals usually is through shifting responsibility for their views/decisions onto someone else in a way that absolves them of blame - ie "I couldn't possibly have done better given the situation as it existed at the time" - but this too requires overcoming a bunch of psychological obstacles.
